Abstract

This compilation of studies examines diverse interventions for enhancing communication in autism spectrum disorder. It covers augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), social skills training, early joint attention, visual supports, speech-generating devices, parent-mediated approaches, play-based and video modeling interventions, pragmatic language deficits, and adult workplace communication. The research underscores the importance of personalized, functional, and evidence-based strategies to improve communication and social engagement

Introduction

The field of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) has seen significant advancements in interventions designed to support autistic individuals in their communication journeys. Recent research emphasizes the critical need for personalized strategies that cater to the diverse communication profiles within the autism spectrum, moving away from one-size-fits-all approaches and focusing on functional communication skills and social reciprocity [1].

The effectiveness of structured social skills training programs has been well-documented, particularly for adolescents with autism spectrum disorder.
