Abstract
Functional mobility assessment is vital for understanding a patient’s environmental navigation and daily activity capabilities. This
review synthesizes current knowledge on assessing mobility across diverse populations, including older adults, stroke survivors, and
individuals with Parkinson’s disease. Key assessment tools such as the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test, 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT),
and Berg Balance Scale (BBS) are discussed, alongside considerations for chronic pain and orthopedic rehabilitation. The role of
emerging wearable sensor technology in objective, real-world assessment is also highlighted.
