Abstract

This research focuses on bioleaching applications for metal recovery from low-grade ores, sulfide concentrates, and electronic waste, utilizing microbial consortia. Investigations by the Dept. of Mineral Biotechnology Andes Mining Institute, Peru, demonstrate enhanced extraction of copper, rare earth elements, gold, nickel, and cobalt through optimized microbial activity and process conditions. The studies emphasize sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional mining and processing techniques.
