Abstract
This research consolidates studies on biological plastic degradation, covering enzymatic breakdown of PET by microbial cocktails, microbial degradation of HDPE, and laccase-mediated PS degradation. It examines environmental influences on PLA biodegradation, the role of extremophiles, and enzymatic recycling of polyurethanes. The investigation also includes PEO-degrading consortia, enzymatic and microbial approaches for nylon 6, and additive effects on PP biodegradation. A comprehensive review of plastic degrading enzymes and their applications is also presented, highlighting sustainable solutions for plastic waste management.
