Abstract
Bioremediation offers sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions for pollutant degradation using microorganisms and plants. This field is advancing through microbial ecology, genetic engineering, and process optimization. Techniques like microbial consortia, phytoremediation, bioaugmentation, and biostimulation enhance cleanup efficacy. Genetically modified organisms and biosensors are emerging tools, while bioremediation is also being applied to plastic waste. Integrated approaches with other technologies improve outcomes for complex sites, with ongoing research addressing challenges like heavy metal immobilization.
