Abstract
Chromatographic fingerprinting is essential for ensuring the quality, authenticity, and consistency of traditional Chinese medicine, herbal products, and plant-based dietary supplements. This method provides comprehensive chemical profiles, crucial for identification and batch-to-batch consistency. Advances in techniques like High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Ultra-Performance Liquid Chromatography-Quadrupole Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS), often combined with chemometrics, enhance the ability to characterize complex natural products, identify active compounds, and correlate chemical profiles with therapeutic activities. This brings greater scientific rigor to traditional practices, ensuring product efficacy and consumer safety.
