Abstract
Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels, is a complex process vital for development, healing, and disease progression, particularly in cancer and ischemic disorders. This overview synthesizes current research on the molecular mechanisms, signaling pathways, and cellular interactions that regulate endothelial cell behavior during angiogenesis. It highlights the significance of the tumor microenvironment, novel regulatory factors, inflammation, the extracellular matrix, pericytes, and the immune system in this process. Therapeutic strategies, including anti-angiogenic therapies for cancer and pro-angiogenic approaches for ischemic diseases, are discussed, along with challenges and future directions.
