Abstract

Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are a major complication of diabetes, leading to significant morbidity and mortality. This review
synthesizes current knowledge on DFU management, emphasizing early detection, prevention, and multidisciplinary care. Key
strategies include regular foot examinations, appropriate footwear, patient education, and prompt treatment of lesions. Neuropathy
and vascular insufficiency are critical factors, necessitating screening and intervention. Infection management and advanced wound
care modalities like NPWT are vital. Preventing recurrence requires ongoing surveillance and patient adherence. Multidisciplinary
collaboration and adjunctive therapies like HBOT can improve outcomes.
