Abstract
This synthesis explores diet’s crucial role in cardiovascular disease prevention. It highlights beneficial patterns like Mediterranean, plant-based, and DASH diets, which reduce hypertension, dyslipidemia, and inflammation [1, 2, 9]. Conversely, ultra-processed foods significantly heighten cardiovascular risk [4]. The review discusses specific nutrients: whole grains’ consistent benefits [7], sodium’s link to blood pressure [6], nuanced roles of saturated fats [3], and omega-3s primarily for high-risk groups [5]. Dairy effects are variable [8]. Emphasizing overall, sustainable dietary patterns is key for long-term heart health [10].
