Abstract

This compilation explores the paradigm shift towards green industrial solvents, moving away from traditional volatile organic
compounds (VOCs). It examines various sustainable alternatives, including bio-based solvents, ionic liquids, supercritical carbon
dioxide, and deep eutectic solvents, detailing their properties, applications in diverse industries, and associated benefits. Challenges
related to performance, cost, and scalability are discussed alongside regulatory and market drivers pushing for their adoption. The
review also covers strategies for reducing VOC emissions and the importance of solvent recovery and recycling for a sustainable
chemical industry.
