Received Date: Feb 01, 2025 / Published Date: Feb 28, 2025
Abstract
Substance abuse among adolescents is a growing concern, with profound effects on their physical, psychological, and social development. This comprehensive analysis delves into the complex relationship between substance use and adolescent behavior, focusing on how early exposure to drugs and alcohol disrupts cognitive development, emotional regulation, and social interactions. It examines the neurobiological changes that occur as a result of substance abuse and explores the role of environmental factors such as peer influence, family dynamics, and socio-economic status. The analysis further discusses the long-term consequences of adolescent substance abuse, including its impact on mental health, academic performance, and social relationships. It also highlights existing prevention programs and intervention strategies aimed at reducing substance use among adolescents, while underscoring the importance of early intervention and community-based approaches. Ultimately, the findings emphasize the need for a holistic approach to combat adolescent substance abuse, integrating family support, educational programs, and mental health services to foster healthier developmental outcomes.
