Abstract
Inspiratory muscle training (IMT) is a recognized therapeutic strategy for cardiorespiratory conditions, enhancing breathing muscle strength, exercise tolerance, and quality of life. Studies demonstrate improvements in maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP) and reduced dyspnea in patients with COPD and heart failure. IMT positively impacts pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation, and influences physiological mechanisms for better respiratory function. It also enhances exercise performance and quality of life, with optimal parameters being key for chronic respiratory diseases. Evidence supports its use in COPD rehabilitation and cardiovascular conditions, advocating for individualized approaches in clinical practice.
