Abstract

Microbial consortia are increasingly recognized for their powerful synergistic capabilities in bioremediation. This collection of studies showcases their application in degrading a wide array of environmental pollutants, including recalcitrant organic compounds, microplastics, hydrocarbons, heavy metals, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and plastic waste. The research emphasizes the importance of interspecies interactions, metabolic diversity, and engineered consortia for efficient contaminant removal and sustainable environmental management.
