Abstract
Consultation-liaison psychiatry is a vital subspecialty integrating mental healthcare into general medical settings to address the
complex interplay between physical and mental health. It focuses on managing psychiatric comorbidities in medically ill patients,
including depression, anxiety, delirium, and somatoform disorders, through interdisciplinary collaboration. The specialty enhances
primary care integration, palliative care, organ transplantation, and the management of co-occurring disorders, with psycho-oncology
addressing the psychological impact of cancer. Its goal is to improve patient outcomes, safety, and quality of life via expert psychiatric
