Abstract
Minimally invasive pediatric surgery (MIPS) has revolutionized care by reducing trauma, hospital stays, and improving cosmesis. This review highlights advancements in laparoscopic, robotic, and endoscopic techniques for common pediatric conditions, emphasizing benefits for neonates and children. Progress in complex abdominal, thoracic, and urological surgeries enhances recovery and reduces morbidity. Robotic surgery offers dexterity in pediatric urology, while laparoscopic cholecystectomy is standard for gallstone disease. Minimally invasive repair of congenital diaphragmatic hernia shows promise. Robotic appendectomy reduces pain and speeds recovery. Thoracoscopic repair of esophageal atresia improves outcomes. Single-port laparoscopy and laparoscopic pyloromyotomy offer further advantages. Minimally invasive reduction is preferred for intussusception, and congenital abdominal wall defects are increasingly managed with MIPS, requiring specialized expertise.
