Neonatal Care: Advances, Challenges, and Future Directions
Abstract
Recent advancements in neonatal care are comprehensively reviewed, covering critical areas such as respiratory distress syndrome management through novel surfactant therapies, long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes in extremely preterm infants, and evolving strategies for neonatal sepsis. The efficacy of therapeutic hypothermia for hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and comparative ventilation techniques for respiratory distress are discussed. Additionally, the review addresses necrotizing enterocolitis, the impact of the gut microbiome, congenital heart disease management, retinopathy of prematurity, and neonatal pain strategies. These findings collectively underscore the progress and ongoing research dedicated to optimizing outcomes for critically ill neonates
