Abstract
Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) leverages oceanic temperature differences for sustainable electricity generation, particularly in tropical regions. Ongoing research aims to enhance heat exchanger efficiency, optimize working fluids, and improve designs for closed and open-cycle systems, while addressing challenges such as biofouling, material durability, and platform construction. Studies also examine fluid performance, thermodynamic optimization, antifouling strategies, techno-economic viability, cold-water pipe systems, hybrid OTEC integration, environmental impacts, turbine design, and materials science for OTEC components, indicating a steady progression towards broader OTEC implementation.
