Abstract
Modern radiology departments depend on Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) for efficient image management, workflow optimization, and data security. PACS have evolved to integrate with EHRs and support AI tools, enhancing diagnostic capabilities. Key considerations include scalability, interoperability standards like DICOM and HL7, disaster recovery, and cost-effectiveness. AI integration offers significant benefits but requires careful validation and seamless implementation. Data security and privacy are paramount, with cloud-based solutions demanding rigorous evaluation. Vendor-neutral archives and robust disaster recovery plans are crucial for long-term manageability and resilience. Ultimately, optimizing PACS performance ensures high diagnostic efficiency.
