Abstract

Phytochemicals, naturally occurring plant compounds, are recognized for their diverse therapeutic properties, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer effects, with potential in managing chronic diseases. Their mechanisms involve modulating cellular pathways and gene expression. Specific compounds like flavonoids and polyphenols exhibit anti-inflammatory actions by inhibiting inflammatory mediators. In cancer therapy, phytochemicals induce apoptosis and inhibit angiogenesis, showing synergy with chemotherapy. Their antioxidant activity reduces oxidative stress and chronic disease risk. Phytochemicals are increasingly integrated into medicine and personalized nutrition. Advances in analytical techniques ensure their quality, while gut microbiota influences their bioavailability. Emerging research highlights their neuroprotective potential and role in metabolic disorders. Understanding pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics is key for developing effective phytodrugs.
