Abstract

Phytoremediation offers a sustainable solution for environmental pollution by utilizing plants to remove, detoxify, or immobilize contaminants. This review highlights key mechanisms such as phytodegradation, phytostabilization, phytoextraction, and phytovolatilization. Recent advancements focus on enhancing plant efficiency through genetic engineering, microbial assistance, and strategic plant species selection. Environmental factors and soil amendments play a crucial role in optimizing remediation outcomes. Continued research aims to further harness plant capabilities for effective and eco-friendly environmental cleanup.
