Abstract
This collection explores the transformative impact of single-molecule techniques in unraveling fundamental biological mechanisms. It highlights diverse applications, from molecular motor mechanics and protein-nucleic acid interactions to RNA-protein complex dynamics and mitochondrial import. The papers also cover viral infection mechanisms, RNA-binding protein behaviors, and membrane protein dynamics in live cells. Crucially, these methods offer real-time insights into CRISPR-Cas DNA repair and molecular events in neurodegenerative diseases. Furthermore, novel single-molecule optical sensing is advancing the detection of epigenetic modifications like DNA methylation, providing unprecedented resolution into complex biological processes for therapeutic and research advancements.
