Abstract
Process scale-up from laboratory to industrial levels presents significant challenges across various industries, including chemical,
pharmaceutical, and bioprocessing. Key issues involve maintaining reaction kinetics, heat and mass transfer, and mixing efficiency
while ensuring paramount safety. Regulatory compliance, particularly GMP in pharmaceuticals, and impurity control are critical.
Computational modeling aids in optimization and accelerating development. Specific processes like crystallization, polymerization,
membrane separations, and bioreactor operations have unique scale-up considerations related to product quality, material properties,
and biological factors. Effective scale-up relies on a multidisciplinary approach integrating fundamental engineering principles,
advanced tools, and rigorous validation.
