School Nurses: Essential, Multifaceted Public Health

Abstract
School nurses play an indispensable, multifaceted role in student health and well-being. They provide critical support for mental health, managechronicconditions, andactasfrontline public health workers duringcrises like COVID-19. Theircontributionsextend to STI prevention, promoting physical activity, and adolescent vaccination. Nurses also identify and support students experiencing domestic abuse and address chronic absenteeism. While essential, they often require better resources and training, particularly for complex medical needs and environmental health issues. Investing in school nursing significantly improves student outcomes and strengthens public health
